GSDC Case Study

Project Title: International Development Assistance

Client: United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)

At the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) in Cairo, 179 countries agreed that population and development are inextricably linked, and that empowering women and meeting their needs for income, education and healthcare are necessary for sustainable social and economic development. Many years later, most developed countries had not lived up to their Cairo commitments.

GSDConsultants Walter Coddington was engaged by UNFPA to build donor country public and political awareness of and support for international population assistance. Coddington organized a coalition of leading population and development organizations throughout Western Europe along with numerous national and international celebrity advocates to champion the cause of women's rights under the Face to Face campaign umbrella.
