Project Title: Natural Gas Power Plant Location
Client: ABB Energy Ventures
ABB Energy Ventures, a division of one of the world's largest engineering companies, wanted to build a natural-gas co-generation power plant in a location that community and government stakeholders would most likely resist at all costs. The stakes were high for both sides and delays in siting the power plant could abort the project.
GSDConsultants Bryan Thomlison was engaged to generate the support of the community or find an acceptable alternative. Consultations with local community representatives led to the identification of a remote brownfield site within range of ABB's oringinal siting but far enough away from the community. The local economic development authority and other community stakeholders applauded the Win/Win resolution and the power plant was sited four months ahead of plan and 90% under the projected budget!
